Nittany Lion Field Hockey Names Hutson and Morano Captains

The Penn State Nittany Lion field hockey team, under the guidance of head coach Char Morett-Curtiss, has named senior Madison Morano (Hammonton, N.J.) and junior Madison Hutson (Gloucester Point, Va.) captains for the 2019 campaign.  The team voted the duo into their captainships as the season's opening weekend approaches.
 
Morano has played in 60 games during three years as a Nittany Lion, starting 46 (including the last 40 straight).  She had 11 points off all off assists last year and has 32 career points off six goals and 20 assists.  Morano has been a two-time Academic All-Big Ten honoree, a three-time NFHCA National Academic Team member and a Big Ten Distinguished Scholar.
 
Hutson played in 11 games a year ago, starting ten, and has played in 18 during her first two seasons as a Lion.  The midfielder/defender redshirted in 2016 as well.  Hutson has been a two-time Academic All-Big Ten honoree and has also been honored twice on the NFHCA National Academic Team. 
 
The Nittany Lions open up the 2019 campaign in Durham, N.C., to take on Duke.  The Lions, ranked No. 9 in the NFHCA's preseason poll and the No. 3 Blue Devils battle at 6 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 30.
