UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – The Penn State Women's Tennis team, under the leadership of first-year head coach Alexandra Anghelescu, has released the Nittany Lions' 2019 fall schedule. Penn State will compete in seven tournaments over the course of six weekends during the fall season.
"I am very excited for the fall and to see the work the girls have been putting in this past summer and the beginning of the semester," Anghelescu said. "We've added a few new tournaments to have the opportunity to play different schools and give the girls a chance to get competition outside the region."
Penn State enters fall action with a familiar squad, returning two seniors, four juniors, and three sophomores. The team will open tournament play on Sept. 20-22 by splitting the club for the Cissie Leary Invite in Philadelphia, Pa. and the Marliss Gruver Invite in Auburn, Ala.
The following weekend, the Nittany Lions will regroup and travel to Williamsburg, Va. for the Hall of Fame Classic hosted by William & Mary. The team will then compete in the Northwestern Wildcat Invite in Evanston, Ill on Oct. 4-6.
Penn State will take part in the ITA All-American Championships in Tulsa, Okla. spanning from Oct. 5-13. Following a weekend off, the squad will go to Blacksburg, Va. to battle in the ITA Regionals.
The team will conclude the fall in Lexington, Ky. for the Kentucky Invite on Nov. 1-3.
