For singles play, schedule revisions were made to avoid having teammates matched up with one another. The Flight D singles pick-ups featured three Nittany Lions, including juniors Olivia Rohrbacher (Sandusky, Ohio) and Gabby O'Gorman (Gunnedah, N.S. Wales, Australia) along with senior Samantha Smith (Cary, N.C.). Smith triumphed over Wisconsin senior Christina Zordani in a strong 6-1, 6-1 showing. O'Gorman dropped her match against Notre Dame sophomore Zoe Taylor, losing 6-3, 6-3. Rohrbacher was defeated by Notre Dame sophomore Meave Koscielski, 7-6 (3), 6-1.

Junior Frederikke Svarre (Copenhagen, Denmark) was victorious in her seventh place matchup against Ole Miss senior Alexa Bortles, winning the first set 7-6 (5) before Bortles retired in the midst of a 1-0 second set.

Doubles

In the Flight A Blue Draw, O'Gorman/Rohrbacher claimed seventh place after handling the Kansas duo of Manu/Deming in a 6-1 set.

During the Flight B Orange Draw, Smith/Svarre suffered a tie breaker loss in their seventh place match by a score of 7-6 (1) against Wisconsin's Markham/Tudor tandem.

"We had a tough weekend as far as wins, but I am very proud of the girls in terms of attitude and fight that they presented against adversity," said coach Alexandra Anghelescu. "Being the first fall tournament, the expectations were to go out there and have fun while presenting a professional attitude. I felt we did a great job this weekend of that. I'm excited to get back to campus this week and further impact this team to reach their full potential!"

The Nittany Lions will look to regroup next weekend as they prepare to travel to the Hall of Fame Classic at William & Mary from Sep. 27-29.
