Pink Zone and Penn State Women's Basketball
Pink Zone and Penn State Women's Basketball are a unified force in the fight against breast cancer on the court, across campus and within communities. Pink Zone promotes cancer awareness and empowers survivors through year-long efforts to raise funds critical in supporting vital breast cancer organizations, charities and facilities that focus on breast cancer education, research, diagnosis, prevention and treatment.

Pink Zone and Penn State Women's Basketball have distributed more than $2.1 million since the partnership began in 2007. The event began in 2007 with $20,490 raised and 31 cancer survivors in attendance and has grown into an event that has distributed over $200,000 per year in six of the last eight years and welcomes hundreds cancer survivors annually. There were 409 survivors present at last season's game celebrating 2,771 years, 4 months and 26 days of survivorship.

Pink Zone's six beneficiaries include; Mount Nittany Health Foundation, Penn State Cancer Institute, Kay Yow Foundation, PA Breast Cancer Coalition, JC Blair Memorial Hospital and Geisinger-Lewistown Hospital.

When the Lady Lions tip off at the Play4Kay Game Benefiting Pink Zone, they will be playing for more than just a game. The traditional blue and white uniforms will be swapped for pink, as Penn State honors those in the fight of their lives against breast cancer. Penn State was the first NCAA team to don pink uniforms in 2007 and have been honored as the Play 4 Kay Division I initiative winner twice in program history, winning the award in 2013 and 2014.

A New Era Begins
Penn State will enter its first season under head coach Carolyn Kieger in 2019-20. Kieger, a 2019 Naismith Women's Coach of the Year Award semifinalist, guided Marquette University to the top of the Big East Conference and three consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances as the Golden Eagles' head coach.

Kieger, a 2006 Marquette graduate, comes to Happy Valley after five years at the helm of her alma mater, posting a 99-64 overall record. During the past three seasons, Kieger led the Golden Eagles to sparkling 76-26 mark (43-11 in Big East), which included a pair of Big East regular-season championships and a Big East Tournament Championship. Marquette made three consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances for the first time in 20 years, advancing to the round of 32 the past two seasons.
