Molloy Secures Penn State’s Second-Straight B1G Offensive Player of the Week Award

Big Ten Release

ROSEMONT, Ill. –
Penn State men's soccer senior captain Aaron Molloy was named Big Ten Co-Offensive Player of the Week, as announced by the conference office Tuesday. The midfielder also earned Top Drawer Soccer Player of the Week honors and was named to the Team of the Week.

Molloy shares the award this week with Maryland's Johannes Bergmann.

In two games last week, Molloy totaled five points on two goals and one assist. He converted a penalty kick against Pittsburgh and added an assist on Liam Butts' game-winning goal for the 3-1 team victory over their in-state rivals. Molloy also had the game-winner against Wisconsin to put the Nittany Lions back on top of the Big Ten standings.

The Dublin, Ireland, native leads Penn State with 14 points on six goals and two assists. He is a perfect 3-for-3 on penalty kicks this season.

The honor is the first conference weekly honor of Molloy's career and the second consecutive Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week award for a Penn State men's soccer player after Butts won last week (10/15/19).

Brandon Hackenberg (9/24/19) and Josh Levine (10/1/19) have also won weekly awards this season on the defensive side.

Molloy and Penn State hosts No. 18 James Madison tonight at 7 p.m. at Jeffrey Field.
