Women’s Rugby Wraps Up Season With Sweep, B1G Title

The Penn State women's rugby team (7-4, 5-0 B1G) ended their season on a high note, as they came with two decisive wins on Saturday.

In the first match against Notre Dame College (OH), the Nittany Lions controlled the game, taking a 24-0 lead into halftime behind tries awarded to the forward packs as well as Mia Lancellotti and Camile White

The second half saw Natalie Bjorklund score the team's lone try, and Penn State was able to come away with an easy 29-7 win over the Falcons.

The game against Michigan got off to a slow starter start, but once the more inexperienced players started to get in a groove, they had no trouble handling the Wolverines. In the end, Penn State dominated in a 64-5 rout.

The win over Michigan was enough to see that the Nittany Lions finished their season undefeated in conference play. Also, with the bonus point win, Penn State was able to just beat out Indiana in the standings and claim their eighth-consecutive Big 10 Women's Rugby title. The blue and white have won the title each year since the league was initiated in 2012.

"I'm really excited where the team finished and the flexibility and growth of all the players on the team," said Kate Daley. "I look forward to seeing everyone hopefully maximizing their potential in the spring season."

The next up for the team after winter break will be a round robin tournament in February.
