TERRE HAUTE, Ind. - The Penn State women's cross country heads to Terre Haute, Indiana for the NCAA Cross Country Championships on Saturday, November 23. The Nittany Lions are fresh off their fourth NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional title in the last five years. The women's program will run in the 6k race starting at 11:15 a.m. ET.

LAST TIME ON THE COURSE
The Penn State women's cross country program captured its fourth NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional championship in the last five years on Friday, November 15. Led by senior Kathryn Munks who placed second, the Nittany Lions finished with a score of 73 points. The Nittany Lions edged Villanova who finished second with 77 points.
The Nittany Lions placed four runners in the top fifteen led by Munks. She was followed by Danae Rivers (sixth), Julia Paternain (ninth) and Alison Willingmyre (15th). Kaite Munks, Danae Rivers, Julia Paternain and Alison Willingmyre each earned all-region honors by finishing in the top 25.
The women's cross country team advances to the NCAA finals for the 10th time in the last 11 years. This is the fifth-consecutive season the Nittany Lions will run at the NCAA Championships. It is their 23rd appearance at the NCAA Championships in program history.
LAST YEAR AT THE NCAA CHAMPIONSHIPS
The No. 22 Penn State women's cross country team ran to a 20th-place finish at the 2018 NCAA Cross Country Championships at the Thomas Zimmer Championship Cross Country Course. As a team, the Nittany Lions finished with an overall score of 482 points.
Penn State is one of nine teams to finish in the top-20 in each of the past four seasons. Danae Rivers and Alison Willingmyre paced the Nittany Lions as they both finished in the top-100. Rivers completed the 6k-course in 21:00.18 to place 87th, while Willingmyre clocked in at 21:03.35 to finish 94th.
GONDAK EARNS REGIONAL HONOR
Head coach John Gondak was named the Mid-Atlantic Region Coach of the Year for the fourth time in the last five seasons. The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announced its regional awards Tuesday afternoon. Award winners were voted upon by USTFCCCA member coaches.
Gondak earns the honor after leading the Nittany Lions to their fourth NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional title in the last five years. Gondak led Penn State to three consecutive regional titles from 2015-2017 along with a Big Ten team title in 2015 where he was named Big Ten Coach of the Year.
