Freiermuth, Gonzalez and Hamler Lead All-Big Ten Offensive Selections


UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Sophomore tight end Pat Freiermuth, senior offensive lineman Steven Gonzalez and sophomore wide receiver KJ Hamler each earn All-Big Ten second team honors to headline the list of Nittany Lion offensive all-conference selections.
 
Joining Freiermuth, Gonzalez and Hamler on the All-Big Ten offensive team are sophomore quarterback Sean Clifford (honorable mention – coaches & media), junior offensive lineman Will Fries (honorable mention – coaches & media), junior Michal Menet (honorable mention – coaches & media) and sophomore running back Journey Brown (honorable mention – media).
 
Pat Freiermuth, TE/H, So./So., 6-5, 256, Merrimac, Mass./Brooks School

  • All-Big Ten second-team selection by the coaches and media.
  • Collects his second all-conference honor after being named honorable mention by the coaches and media in 2018.
  • Is the first Penn State tight end to earn All-Big Ten first or second team honors since Mike Gesicki (first team) in 2017.
  • Has made a catch in 24-straight games, dating back to the Pitt (9/8/18) game.
  • Ranks No. 7 in FBS with seven receiving touchdowns.
  • Sits tied for fourth among FBS tight ends with seven touchdown receptions.
  • Selected to the Pro Football Focus Big Ten Team of the Week first team following the Minnesota game (11/9).
  • Named John Mackey Award Tight End of the Week following the Michigan State game (10/26).

  • Sits No. 3 in the Big Ten with 11 total touchdowns.
  • Had a career-long 85-yard run vs. Pitt (9/14/19), the second-longest non-scoring run in program history (Blair Thomas 92-yard run vs. Syracuse, 1986).
  • Rushed for 109 yards on 10 carries versus Pittsburgh (9/14).
  • Rushed for a career-high 124 yards on 14 carries and scored on a 45- and 6-yard runs at Minnesota (11/9)
  • Rushed for 100 yards on a career-high 21 carries with a 35-yard touchdown versus Indiana (11/16)
  • Recorded 103 rushing yards and three touchdowns against Rutgers (11/30).
