Nittany Lions Wrap Up First Indoor Meet of the Season

LEWISBURG, Pa. - The Penn State track & field program finished competition on Saturday, December 7 at the Bison Opener at Bucknell University in the first meet of the indoor season. The Nittany Lions won seven events during the two days of competition, including six on day two.

Isaiah Dillard brought home first place in the heptathlon, finishing the event with 5,095 points. Dillard won the long jump, high jump, 60m hurdles, and 60m race over two days of competition.

Breana Gambrell had a strong showing at the first meet of the year, turning in an indoor personal-best in the long jump (6.19m) to win the event. Gambrell also won the triple jump with a top jump of 12.23m. This mark was also a personal-best jump for Gambrell in the triple jump.

In the women's high jump, Alexa Parks won the event with a top jump of 1.70m. Along with Parks, Carlie Wilson placed second and Cecelia Bacon tied for third.

Payden Montana continued the winning ways for the Nittany Lions and placed first in the shot put with a best throw of 15.49m.

In the women's pole vault, Katie Jones and Carena Nottoli tied for first. Both Jones and Nottoli cleared 3.95m to claim a share of first place.

Freshman Luke Knipe finished second in the men's pole vault in his first collegiate meet. 

Ben Peterson, Thomas Bojalad and Jack Zimmerman each finished in the top five in the men's shot put to round out competition for the Nittany Lions.

On the first day of competition, Maddie Holmberg won the pentathlon with 4,075 points and Rae Rae Taylor placed second with 3,465 points.

Penn State returns to competition on January 11 when the Nittany Lions host the Nittany Lion Challenge.
