Cey Leads Men's Diving in Final Day at Navy Diving Invitational

ANNAPOLIS, Md. – Christina Crowell led Penn State women's diving to a first-place finish with 160 points, while the Penn State men were led by Bryce Hoch to a second-place with 121 points as the Navy Diving Invitational concluded Sunday afternoon in Lejeune Hall.
 
Crowell was the women's high-scorer of the meet, winning both springboard events and placing third in the platform Sunday with a score of 215.70. On the men's side, Hoch tied with Navy's Jake Hedrick as the men's high scorer of the weekend after placing fourth on the 1-meter, third on the 3-meter and third on the platform (242.30).
 
The women's team edged out Navy, Marist, and Liberty while the men's team trailed the host Midshipmen and defeated Marist.
 
The meet concluded with the platform Sunday, and Sierra Shurts led the Penn State women with a personal best score of 223.35 to finish second. Crowell immediately followed Shurts with a score of 215.70 and Wei Wei was fourth (181.90).
 
Jonah Cey led the men on day thre with a score of 304.90.
 
Crowell had a successful first two days of the meet, earning a career-best and NCAA Zones qualifying score of 325.25 in the 3-meter finals for her second event win of the invitational. Crowell won the 1-meter on day one with a score of 248.60.
 
Shurts also placed in the top three in the 3-meter, placing third in the finals with a career-best and NCAA Zones qualifying score of 286.25, while Kamryn Umbel placed fifth with a score of 278.80.
 
On the men's side, three Nittany Lions made it to the finals in the 1-meter on day one. Freshman Kevin Sullivan placed third in the finals with a score of 293.05, with Bryce Hoch and Jonah Cey rounding out the top five with scores of 286.10 and 284.70, respectively.
Hoch led the Penn State men with a third-place finish in the 3-meter dive on day two with a score of 290.10, and Cey (273.65) and Sullivan (271.80) followed him in fifth and sixth, respectively.
