Track & Field Concludes Husky Classic, Tiger Paw Invitational

SEATTLE, Wash. - The Nittany Lions' distance runners turned in three personal-best marks during Saturday's competition at the Husky Classic hosted by the University of Washington. Penn State returns to the Horace Ashenfelter III Indoor Track facility for the final time in 2020 for the Penn State Tune-Up on Friday, Feb. 21.

Penn State's three personal-bests came in the men's mile. Led by senior captain Billy McDevitt, each of the three Nittany Lions turned in the fastest mile races of their careers. McDevitt clocked 4:03.11 for his new personal-best time in the event. McDevitt was followed closely by Owen Wing and Drew Maher who both clocked their mile time at 4:04.18 to set new personal-best times.



McDevitt has set personal-best marks in back-to-back weeks during his final season of competition. McDevitt ran 1:49.91 in the 800m race last weekend at the annual Sykes & Sabock Challenge for his new personal-best in the event.

CLEMSON, S.C. - The second portion of the track & field program completed competition at the Tiger Paw Invitational on Saturday.

Junior Victoria Tachinski rode the momentum of her school record in the 600m race at last weekend's Sykes & Sabock Challenge into her performance on Saturday at the Tiger Paw Invitational. Tachinski ran a collegiate-best 2:07.51 in the women's 800m race. Tachinski's day of racing was not limited to the 800m event.



Tachinski and the women's 4x400m team ran a season-best time of 3:40.11. The team of Kiara Lester, Tachinski, Amariah Thomas and Antoinette Bradley ran the best time for the Nittany Lions in the relay race. Lester and Bradley wrapped up their strong weekend with their individual performances in the 400m race on Friday.

Lester ran a season-best time of 53.82 in Friday's 400m race and Bradley ran a personal-best time of 55.62.

The men's 4x400m relay team also clocked a season-best time of 3:10.02 for the new top-time of the indoor season. Freshman Savion Hebron ran the opening leg of the of the 4x400m race and was followed by fellow freshman Sincere Rhea. Rhea handed the baton to the lone upperclassman on the team, Gary Ross. Karl Johnson ran the anchor leg and finished crossed the line at 3:10.02 for the new season-best time for the relay team.

In the field events, Alexa Parks placed third in the women's high jump and freshman Mallory Kauffman placed seventh in the women's shot put.

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - Former Nittany Lion Isaiah Harris wrapped up competition at the USATF Indoor Championships on Saturday in the Nike Men's 800m. Harris ran 1:47.16 to place second in the 800m event. Harris ran an indoor personal-best 1:46.01 at the prestigious Millrose Games held at the Armory in New York.

Harris, Morgan Shigo (hammer throw - 5th) and Malik Moffett (long jump - 2nd) all competed at this weekend's USATF Indoor Championships. All three former Nittany Lions serve as volunteer assistant coaches for the Nittany Lions.

The Penn State Tune-Up is the final meet before the Nittany Lions head to Geneva, Ohio for the 2020 Big Ten Indoor Track & Field Championships February 28-29.
