Pantazis, Nedoroscik in Action for Men's Gymnastics this Week

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Seniors Brennan Pantazis and Stephen Nedoroscik are in action this week for the Penn State men's gymnastics team. Pantazis is in Las Vegas for the Winter Cup Challenge, while Nedoroscik is in Melbourne, Australia, for the World Cup. Both events start on Thursday.

The 2020 Winter Cup Challenge is the qualifying event to the 2020 U.S. Gymnastics Championships, where athletes will attempt to qualify to the 2020 Olympic Team Trials. The Winter Cup Challenge will also culminate in the selection of the Senior National Team to be named following the competition.

Pantazis, who qualified for the all-around event with his score at the West Point Open this season, will begin competition on Thursday at 9:30 p.m. (ET) The finals are on Saturday at 10:30 p.m. (ET). It will be the second time competing in the Winter Cup for Pantazis.

Nedoroscik is in Australia for the World Cup attempting to earn points toward a spot on the 2020 U.S. Olympic Team. The pommel horse event will feature 26 competitors over four rotations. Nedoroscik is in the first rotation. The qualifying round will be held at 2 a.m. (ET) on Thursday, while the finals will begin at 2 a.m. (ET) on Saturday.

Amongst collegiate gymnasts, Nedoroscik has the best score in the nation this season with a 15.9 in a meet at Air Force. The two-time national champion also has the best National Qualifying Average at 15.583. The next best score is 14.233.

Pantazis and Nedoroscik have helped Penn State start the season with a perfect 10-0 record. The Lions won the seven-team West Point open and then added meet wins over Army West Point, Ohio State, Air Force, and William & Mary.
