Men’s Tennis Set for Three-Match Weekend

University Park, Pa. – To close out its eight-match homestand, Penn State men's tennis will welcome Liberty (5-3), Penn (4-4) and Bucknell (2-3). The Nittany Lions will host the Flames on Friday, Feb. 21 at 6 p.m. in addition to the Bison and Quakers on Sunday, Feb. 23 at noon and 6 p.m.

All matches will take place at the Indoor Tennis Center. 

"Every match from here on out is going to be tough," head coach Jeff Zinn said. "We have to come ready to battle. Liberty has a terrific team and a terrific program. They are going to give us everything they've got."

LAST TIME OUT

After its second doubleheader in a row, Penn State improved to 5-2 after defeating St. Bonaventure, 5-0 and Saint Francis, 5-1, on Sunday, Feb. 16 at the Indoor Tennis Center. 

The Blue and White are now a perfect 5-0 at home this season. 

Freshman Chikaya Sato went undefeated over the weekend, winning two singles matches and one doubles match with one going unfinished. He is now 5-1 in singles competition and 2-1 in doubles this spring. 

SCOUTING THE FLAMES 

Liberty is coming into Happy Valley hot off a road win against William & Mary to give the team their first loss of the season. 

Former ASUN Player of the Week Josh Wilson solidified the Flames comeback win over the Tribe on court two. He now owns a 4-3 overall singles record this spring. 

The upcoming match will make the two teams first dual season meeting. 

INSIDE THE QUAKERS 

Penn's most recent win came during the ECAC Tournament with a consolation finals win over Brown, 4-1. 

The Quakers have the all-time advantage over Penn State, with a record of 34-15. 

LOOKING AT THE BISON

Bucknell's two wins this season came against Siena College and Saint Francis, defeating both teams by a score of 5-2.

Before arriving at the Indoor Tennis Center, the Bison will face La Salle Friday in addition to UCONN on Saturday and Marist on Sunday morning. 

The Nittany Lions own an all-time record of 68-17 over Bucknell. 

NEXT UP

The Nittany Lions will travel to Ann Arbor, Mich. for their first road contest and first conference match of the season against Michigan. The match is scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 29 at noon.
