Penn State Falls At #19/21 Iowa

IOWA CITY, Iowa – The Penn State women's basketball team couldn't find an answer to a red-hot Iowa offense as the #19/21 Hawkeyes earned a 100-57 win Saturday afternoon at Carver Hawkeye Arena.

Three Lady Lions finished in double figures as junior Kamaria McDaniel led the way with 22 points. Senior Siyeh Frazier chipped in 14, while freshman Makenna Marisa added 12.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Iowa raced out to a 10-2 lead just over three minutes into the game, but Penn State battled back with a 7-3 streak over the next two minutes to narrow the gap to four at 13-9 midway through the first quarter. Iowa worked its lead back to eight, but a layup from freshman Shay Hagans ended the term to pull PSU within 22-16.
  • A Frazier layup opened the second quarter to trim the deficit to four, but Iowa shot 61.6 percent from the floor in the term to outscore PSU 27-10 and take a 49-26 lead at the half.
  • Marisa was 3-for-3 from the field with two three-pointers in the third quarter as she led the Penn State offense with eight points in the term. PSU shot 53.8 percent from the field in the term, but didn't have an answer for the Iowa offense as the Hawkeyes took a 78-48 lead through three quarters.
  • It was much of the same in the fourth quarter as Iowa secured the 100-57 win.

KEY NOTES
