TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The Penn State softball team (5-7) struggled offensively in the Easton Bama Bash opener, dropping games to Louisville, 9-0, and No. 10/13 Alabama, 5-0, Friday at Rhoads Stadium.

Game 1: Penn State 0, Louisville 9 (5 innings)
The Penn State offense struggled in the opening game of the Easton Bama Bash Friday morning, falling to Louisville, 9-0, in five innings.

After both teams traded back and forth three up, three down innings, Louisville took the first lead of the game in the top of the fourth with a lead-off solo home run.

The Cardinals added one more run in the fourth off two hits to take a 2-0 lead midway through.

Louisville ran away with the game in the fifth, scoring seven runs on seven hits and an error.

Sophomore pitcher Bailey Parshall struck out six as the starting pitcher while junior Logan Black recorded two strikeouts out of the bullpen.

Game 2: Penn State 0, No. 10/13 Alabama 5
Penn State held a high-powered Alabama offense to five runs but was unable to put any runs of its own on the scoreboard, ultimately falling, 5-0.

Redshirt junior Kennedy Legg went 2-for-3 at the plate with two singles for her fourth multi-hit game of the season.

Legg singled down the left field line in the opening frame to get the offense going for the Nittany Lions, but she was eventually stranded.

Alabama threatened in its first offensive possession with a lead-off single and a walk before Parshall struck out two to strand two Crimson Tide runners.

The Crimson Tide got on the scoreboard in the second, scoring two runs on three hits to take a 2-0 lead.

They added one run on two hits in the third and two runs on three hits in the sixth to total their five runs.

Penn State got runners in scoring position in the top of the sixth for the first time on the day but was unable to convert.
