UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Penn State senior Stephen Nedoroscik will remain on the U.S. Men's Gymnastics National Team despite not competing at the Winter Cup Challenge this past weekend. His petition to remain on the team was successful after winning the pommel horse title at the Melbourne World Cup on Saturday.
Nine spots on the National Team were earned at the Winter Cup Challenge, while Nedoroscik was one of three gymnasts put on the team following a petition. Trevor Howard, a former national champion for Penn State that graduated in 2016, also received a spot on the team via petition.
Nedoroscik dominated the Melbourne World Cup, winning with a score of 15.4 in the finals. He will have little time to rest following his return from Australia as he rejoins the eighth-ranked Nittany Lions for a Big Ten meet at Nebraska on Saturday.
Saturday's meet with the fourth-ranked Cornhuskers is scheduled for 6 p.m. and will air live on the Big Ten Network. Penn State enters unbeaten at 10-0 overall and 1-0 in the Big Ten, while Nebraska is 6-2 overall and 1-1 in the conference.
