Women's Swimming Set for NCAA Last Chance Meet

UNIVERSITY PARK, PA— Eight members of women's swimming will compete for an NCAA bid at the Last Chance Meet at West Virginia University on Sunday, Mar. 1. The contest is scheduled to begin at 10:00 a.m. in the Aquatic Center at Mylan Park. All teams and swimmers are welcome to compete.

Swimmers Maddie Hart, Carly Hart, Marie Schobel, Maddie Cooke, Elizabeth Gaspari, Olivia Jack, and Abbie Amdor look to improve their current B-Cut times so that they can be chosen to swim at NCAA Championships in Athens, Georgia in late March.

The Nittany Lions
Women's swimming last competed when they traveled to the University of Iowa for Big Ten Championships in late February. Maddie Hart swam for a school record in the 200 back (1:53.37) as one of her three top-eight finishes at meet. Hart is also fourth all-time for Penn State in the 100 back, second in the 100 butterfly, fourth all-time in the 200 fly, and sits in the best position to be invited to NCAA Championships going into the Last Chance meet.

Cooke also swam for a top-eight finish but in the 50 freestyle with a time of 22.49, which remains the sixth fastest time in the event in Penn State history.

Schobel had a successful meet at Big Ten Championships, improving all of her top times and climbing to the third-fastest time for Penn State in the 200 back (1:55.06) and fifth fastest in the 100 back (52.69).

Carly Hart qualified for finals in the 100 and 200 breaststroke, Jack in the 100 breast with a narrow miss in the 50 free, and Amdor in the 50 and 100 free.
