UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Penn State men's volleyball redshirt senior Henrik Falck Lauten was awarded EIVA Offensive Player of the Week for his performance in Penn State's three straight-set wins this past week Feb. 25-29.
Falck Lauten was all over the court for Penn State with 25 kills at a team-best .465 hitting percentage (25-5-43) while adding eight digs, nine blocks, and four service aces in his three starts. He also was solid on serve-recieve at 49-51 (.961).
The Drammen, Norway, native had his third double-digit kill effort of the season last Tuesday at Saint Francis with 11 kills while hitting a season-high .529. He followed that effort up with nine kills against No. 15 George Mason and five more against Charleston.
The weekly award is the second for Falck Lauten in his Penn State career after he was named Defensive Player of the Week March 25, 2019. He was also named EIVA Newcomer of the Year and Second Team All-EIVA in the 2019 season.
Falck Lauten ranks fourth on Penn State this season in both kills per set (2.23) and points per set (2.95) while starting Penn State's last nine matches.
He becomes the fifth Nittany Lion to win an EIVA weekly award this year, following Brett Wildman (twice), Cal Fisher, Calvin Mende, and Will Bantle.
Falck Lauten and the Nittany Lions return to action this Sunday, March 8, when they travel to Ohio State to face the Buckeyes, followed by their trip to California to face UC San Diego and UC Irvine next week.
