Women's Golf Tenth After First Two Rounds of Hurricane Invitational

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – On a very windy day in South Florida the Penn State women's golf team shot 26-over (314) and 23-over (311) and currently sit in tenth position following the opening two rounds of the Hurricane Invitational.

"I believe we let the conditions get to us," mentioned head coach Denise St. Pierre. "It was very windy with some tough course set up. We need a better game plan for tomorrow."

TCU is currently leading the field at 8-over while No. 9 Arizona (15-over), No. 50 Michigan (16-over), Maryland (17-over) and No. 16 Oklahoma State (21-over) round out the top-five. Maryland and Oklahoma State each had the low rounds of the day firing 1-over, 289, in the opening round, but couldn't back it up going 16-over (304) and 20-over (308), respectively in the second round of the day.

The Nittany Lions are being paced by freshman Mathilde Delavallade (Royan, France) who is currently tied for 34th at 9-over after carding rounds of 76 and 77. Senior Megan McLean (Lebanon, N.J.) bounced back from a tough 7-over opening round with a 4-over, 76, to close out the day 11-over and in a tie for 42nd.

Sophomore Sarah Willis (Eaton, Ohio) carded identical rounds of 7-over, 79, and sits at 14-over and tied for 53rd after the opening day. Senior Maddy Herr (New Hope, Pa.) and junior Olivia Zambruno (Mt. Pleasant, Pa.) rounded out the team scores for the day at 15-over and 19-over, respectively.

Playing as an individual freshman Isha Dhruva (Katy, Texas) carded rounds of 5-over and 7-over and is currently tied for 46th at 12-over for the tournament.

Penn State will be paired with Indiana and Middle Tennessee during tomorrow morning's final round with an 8:00 a.m. shotgun start.
