UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Penn State women's lacrosse goalie Taylor Suplee was named honorable mention All-America by Inside Lacrosse media on Tuesday. Suplee is the recipient of the Tavern Restaurant Lady Lion Scholarship.
Suplee was among the national and Big Ten leaders in multiple statistical categories this season. She was a major reason Penn State ranked fourth in the country, and led the Big Ten, with a .531 save percentage.
The sophomore averaged 12.43 saves per game, leading the Big Ten and ranking second in the country. Suplee sat fifth in the nation, and second in the conference, with 87 saves. She also recorded a .527 save percentage, holding seventh in the country and second in the Big Ten. Suplee ranked fourth in the conference with a 12.27 goals-against average.
Suplee led the Big Ten, and ranked seventh in the nation, averaging 4.0 groundballs per game.
The Maryland native made 10 or more saves in six of seven games this season, including a career-high 20 saves in a 19-9 win over Cornell. She also had 12 saves at Towson, 12 vs. Lehigh, 15 vs. Loyola (MD), 10 at James Madison and 11 at Vanderbilt. Suplee made seven saves in the first half against Duquesne. She has 15 career double-digit save efforts.
Suplee garnered Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week awards on February 11 and 25.
The Nittany Lions, led by Head Coach Missy Doherty, finished the season with a 5-2 record. Penn State was ranked No. 22 in the final IWLCA Coaches Poll.
