No. 20 Nittany Lions Play Northwestern in Regular-Season Finale Saturday

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – The Penn State men's basketball team (21-9, 11-8) travels to the Chicagoland area for its Saturday, March 7 game at Northwestern (7-22, 2-17). Tipoff is set for 4 p.m. ET and the Big Ten Network will carry the broadcast of the game.

The Nittany Lions have won the last three-straight games vs. the Wildcats and the only meeting last season, at Welsh-Ryan Arena, on Feb. 4, 2019.

The Atlanta Tipoff Club named coach Patrick Chambers one of 10 semifinalists for the Werner Ladder Naismith Coach of the Year Award Friday. Chambers is one of only two coaches in Penn State's Big Ten era to record two 20-win seasons.
 
To date, Penn State's 2019-20 senior class has won 76 games over the last four seasons, collecting the most wins in any four-year span in Penn State's Big Ten era.The 33 Big Ten wins from 2016-2020 also rank as the most in any four-year span in that time period.

LAST TIME OUT: SHARP-SHOOTING SPARTANS SPOIL FINAL HOME GAME
No. 16 Michigan State shot 67.9 percent in the second half and escaped the Bryce Jordan Center with a 79-71 win Tuesday. Four Spartans combined for 44 of the team's 48 points in the second half to overcome a 46-25 deficit.
 
Three Nittany Lions scored in double digits with Myreon Jones returning to the starting lineup and finishing the night with a team-best 16 points. Lamar Stevens had 15 points, 13 in the second half, and Mike Watkins added 12 with a team-best nine rebounds.
 
A putback layup by John Harrar, then key deflection with 5:07 left to play, followed by another Harrar layup, put Penn State down by only two, 68-66. Michigan State's Xavier Tillman, made two free throws to give the Spartans a 70-66 lead at the 4:34 mark. Penn State trimmed the lead to three, 70-67, on a free throw, but couldn't get any closer. Tillman had 23 on the night and a game-high 15 rebounds.
 
The Spartans held on for the 79-71 win with five free throws and a pair of baskets over the game's final few minutes.
 
Michigan State flipped the script on Penn State in the second half. In the first half, Penn State made 7-8 field goals over a stretch of three-and-a-half minutes to take a 33-18 lead. The Spartans made their opening six shots after the break, missed two, and then made five more to reverse the score to a 57-53 MSU advantage.
 
The Nittany Lions opened the game with a 10-2 lead and drained 10 triples in the first half, with four from Myreon Jones and three from Myles Dread added three triples. A late bucket by Watkins beat the buzzer as Penn State took a 46-31 lead into halftime.
