UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Penn State women's lacrosse alum Madison Carter is continuing to make an impact on lacrosse by accepting an assistant coach position at Mercer on Friday.
Carter ended her career as a Nittany Lion ranking fifth all-time with 197 goals and seventh with 218 points. In 2019, Carter became the fifth Nittany Lion to reach the 200-point mark. She also collected 334 draw controls, 56 groundballs and 26 caused turnovers in 68 career starts.
The Maryland native led Penn State to three NCAA Tournament appearances, including two National Semifinals. Carter was a two-time IWLCA All-America second team selection, earning the honor in 2017 and 2018. She garnered two first-team IWLCA All-region selections, three All-Big Ten selections and was the Big Ten Freshman of the Year in 2016. A four-time member of the Tewaaraton Award watch list, Carter scored a Penn State-record 70 goals as a sophomore and 62 goals as a junior.
A three-time Academic All-Big Ten selection, Carter graduated with her bachelor's degree in Rehabilitation and Human Services in May 2019.
The Nittany Lions, led by Head Coach Missy Doherty, went 5-2 in 2020 before the season was stopped due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
