Jade Rowland Earns Prestigious NCAA Post-Graduate Scholarship

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Penn State Nittany Lion fencer Jade Rowland (Princeton Junction, N.J.) has been honored as a recipient of a 2020 NCAA Post-Graduate Scholarship.  Rowland is Penn State's first NCAA Post-Graduate Scholarship winner since wrestler Matt Brown earned one in 2015.

Rowland recently completed an outstanding career with the Penn State women's fencing team.  The New Jersey-native was a four-year starter in the women's foil for head coach Wes Glon. Rowland amassed a 180-127 career mark for Penn State. She posted a career best 55 wins as a freshman in 2016-17 and qualified for the NCAA Championships, placing 12th.  Rowland had 39 or more wins in each of her four seasons with Penn State.

The Lion fencer is the 47th Penn State student-athlete to receive the award and the third fencer.  Olga Kalinovskaya (1996) and Stephanie Eim (2002) both were recipients as well.

An outstanding student, Rowland was a three-time Academic All-Big Ten honoree.  A finance and history major, Rowland's post-graduate plans include attending the London School of Economics in England.
