INDIVIDUAL FINALS RESULTS
WEST POINT, N.Y. – The No. 7 Penn State men's gymnastics team won three of six individual events at the West Point Open on Saturday night at Christl Arena. The three individual crowns came one night after the Lions took the team title for the seventh consecutive season.
The three first-place finishes came from senior Isaac Hammett on rings, junior Alex Frack on high bar and senior Stephen Nedoroscik on pommel horse.
The Nittany Lions were dominant on rings, taking the top three spots. Hammett took the top spot with a score of 13.85 and was followed by teammates Brayden Borromeo and Eric Lung in second and third, respectively. Hammett won the event at the West Point Open for the second straight year. Last year's victory was the first in a stretch of five straight meets that he won the event.
Frack won with a score of 13.950 on high bar, finishing ahead of Arizona State's Kiwan Watts (13.850) in second place. It was Frack's second career win on high bar at the West Point Open. The other came as a freshman, while he added a third-place finish as a sophomore.
Nedoroscik's title on pommel horse was no surprise as it was his third straight at the West Point Open. He won with a 14.8 just one day after setting a personal-record with a 15.5 to help the Lions win the team crown. He was joined on the podium this season by sophomore Nick Mock and junior Jack Baldwin in sixth and seventh, respectively.
Senior captain Brayden Borromeo and sophomore Kaleb Booth turned in solid showings on vault. Borromeo was the runner-up with a score of 14.050, while Booth finished sixth with a 13.800.
Adding podium finishes for the Lions were sophomore Eric Lung and freshman Nate Warren in fifth and eighth on parallel bars.
The Lions have won nine of a possible 12 individual titles at the West Point Open over the last two seasons.
