ROSEMONT, Ill. – Penn State men's golf student-athletes Alec Bard, Ryan Davis and Lou Olsakovsky have been selected for Big Ten Conference preseason honors, the league announced Thursday. All three were starters for the Nittany Lions' abbreviated 2019-20 season and were named to the 2019-20 Academic All-Big Ten team.
Penn State's top finisher at the 2019 Big Ten Championships, Bard picked up his first All-Northeast Region honor from the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) in 2020. A graduate student from New Hartford, New York, Bard posted the Nittany Lions' best score at the 2019 UNCG/Grandover Collegiate and tallied a career-low 209 (1-under) at Old Town Club Collegiate with a career-low-tying 67 in the first round.
Davis, a first-team All-Big Ten Conference selection in 2019-20, has recorded 12 top-10 finishes in his Penn State career. From Berkeley Heights, New Jersey, he has earned All-Northeast Region honors four times, one of only seven Nittany Lions in program history with four selections. The graduate student was named a GCAA All-America Scholar in both 2019 and 2020 and three times has been named to the Academic All-Big Ten team.
A senior from Upper St. Clair, Pennsylvania, Olsakovsky made his first start as a Nittany Lion at the 2019 Rod Myers Invitational and tied for Penn State's best individual score with an under-par total. He tied his career-low round with a 67 in the first round of the 2019 Old Town Club Collegiate. Olsakovsky was named a 2020 GCAA All-America Scholar and to the Academic All-Big Ten team for 2019-20.
The Penn State men's golf team opens its 2021 spring schedule at the Big Ten Match Play Championship Feb. 5-6 on the Ocean Course at the Hammock Beach Resort in Palm Coast, Florida.
