THE MATCHUP
Penn State leads the historic rivalry against Ohio State 74-39-1. The Nittany Lions and Buckeyes played their season-opening series last weekend in Columbus and the teams both split the two matches in 3-0 fashion.
Last Friday's win for PSU was its first in Columbus against the Buckeyes since the 2012 season.
PICKING UP WHERE THEY LEFT OFF
Several Nittany Lions veterans showcased their play-making abilities in Columbus, led by junior Cal Fisher. Fisher paced PSU with 10 kills and 4 aces in last Friday's sweep.
Junior Brett Wildman added six kills on Friday and was also joined by juniors Canyon Tuman (three kills, four blocks) and Sam Marsh (two kills, two blocks) in making winning plays in match one.
DEBUTS ALL AROUND
With Penn State's young and talented roster, several Nittany Lions saw action on the court for the first time as collegiate student-athletes last weekend. Freshmen Michal Kowal and Michael Valenzi along with sophomore Tim Herget played last Friday.
Sophomores Jack Shampine and John Kerr and freshmen Toby Ezenou and Ian Argento got on the court Saturday for their debuts.
