Head coach Wes Glon's men's squad goes 4-0 and the women's team goes 3-1

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa.; February 21 – The Penn State men's and women's fencing teams, under the direction of head coach Wes Glon, competed in the Temple Invitational in their second dual meet of the season. Both teams battled against North Carolina and Saint John's University. Additionally, the women's team fenced Temple and the men fenced NJIT.

The men's team went undefeated on the day winning all four of their duals. They defeated North Carolina 17-10 and St. John's 17-10.  Additionally, the Nittany Lions fenced NJIT twice, beating them 19-8 and 20-7 in Rounds One and Four respectively.

Ryan Griffiths (Fair Lawn, N.J.) was 3-0 in three of his four duals, bringing his overall record this season to 20-4. Teammates Peter Kambeseles (Brooklyn, N.Y.), Arwen Borowiak (Tauberbischofsheim, Germany), Sebastiano Bicego (Vicenza, Italy), Aidan Johnson (Oceanport, N.J.) and Inti-Farfan Bayerl (Morrison, Colo.) all had at least one undefeated dual as well, helping the team achieve a 4-0 record.

The women's team was nearly perfect in the tournament, securing a 3-1 record. They defeated North Carolina 19-8 and St. John's 24-3. Glon's women's team fenced Temple twice, beating the host Owls in Round One, 18-9, and falling in Round Four, 11-16.

Kateryna Chorniy (Kyiv, Ukraine), Lodovica Bicego (Vicenza, Italy), Samantha Catantan (Quezon City, Philippines) and Pauline Conscience (Paris, France) each went 3-0 in two of their four duals today.

The women's team closes out the 2021 dual season at 7-3 overall and the men's team finishes 6-3 overall.

Should the NCAA permit the 2021 Championships to occur, Penn State will serve as the host site on March 25-28.
