Women's Golf Concludes Play at Gators Invitational

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Penn State concluded play at the Florida Gators Invitational on Tuesday morning carding a 293 (13-over) to finish 14th in a loaded field.

The host Gators used the only under-par round of the day registering a 2-under, 278, to climb four spots and tie for first with Ole Miss at 16-over for the Championship. Following the round the coaches decided against a champion so Ole Miss and Florida were officially deemed the 49th annual Florida Gators Invitational Co-Champions.

Alabama and Maryland tied for third at 23-over for the week followed by Miami who rounded out the top-five at 26-over.

The Nittany Lions were led by freshman Victoria Tip-Aucha (Vienna, Va.) who gained 14 spots finishing tied for 56th after carding an even-par score of 70, her lowest round of the season. The rookie began play on the 18th and registered 16-straight pars before a bogey on the 16th, but she finished her day with a birdie on 17 to come in at even-par.

Senior Megan McLean (Lebanon, N.J.) and sophomore Isha Dhruva (Katy, Texas) had matching scores of 4-over, 74, while junior Sarah Willis (Eaton, Ohio) and sophomore Mathilde Delavallade (Royan, France) carded identical rounds of 75 (5-over).

Willis was the highest finisher for the Nittany Lions tying for 35th while McLean finished tied for 44th. Florida's Annabell Fuller earned individual medalist honors following a 4-under, 66, in the final round to finish the tournament at 5-under, three shots clear of a trio of her closest competitors.

Penn State returns north for a few weeks before resuming competition in South Carolina at the Briar's Creek Invitational on March 15-16.
