Five Of The Nine Seniors Honored

Men's Swimming & Diving Defeats Michigan State On Senior Day

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — The Penn State Men's Swimming & Diving team concluded their regular season with a win over Michigan State, defeating the Spartans 108-54 Saturday evening at McCoy Natatorium. 

The team also honored the seniors for their last home meet: Brad Johnson, Dale Johnson, Gabe Castano, Jacob Deckman, Juliusz Gosieniecki, Hayden Harlow, Bryce Hoch, Eben Krigger, and William Roberson. 

Top Swims

Sophomore Lachlan Byrne led the Nittany Lions with three individual event wins in the 200 back (1:50.94), 50 back (22.91), and 100 IM (51.16). 

In the breaststroke, sophomore Daniel Raisanen took home a win in both the 100 breast (54.71) and 200 breast (1:58.06).

Senior Hayden Harlow had an impressive performance against the Spartans, winning the 200 IM (1:51.35) and earning second in the 200 free (1:41.06). 

In the 50 breast, newcomer Ben Doyle swam for first with a time of 25.73. Following closely behind him was sophomore Mikey Challis who swam 25.86 for second. 

Junior Zac Zwijacz had a successful meet with a win in the 100 fly (49.52), and two third place finishes in the 200 free (1:45.99) and 200 fly (1:59.62). 

Freshman Jake Houck swam closely behind Zwijacz to secure a second-place finish in the 100 fly (49.62). 

Junior Devon Chenot won the 50 free with a new personal-best time of 20.79. 

Freshmen Jacob Oberle, Tommy Hurley, and Henry Radzikowski all earned a win in their respective events. Oberle in the 100 back (50.78), Hurley in the 50 fly (22.34), and Radzikowski in the 500 free (4:30.64). 

Senior Eben Krigger swam just .70 seconds away from a personal-best in the 100 free. His time of 45.90 was good for a second-place finish.

Junior William Lulek secured a win in the 400 IM with a time of 3:51.13. Freshman Calvin Wise swam for second in the event (4:03.40). 

Nittany Lion Relays

The Nittany Lions opened the meet with a win in the 400 medley relay. The team composed of Harlow, Raisanen, Zwijacz, and Houck swam 3:17.28 for a first-place finish.

Top Dives

Senior Bryce Hoch concluded his final meet at McCoy Natatorium with an NCAA Zones qualifying score and a win in the 3-meter (333.38). 

Sophomore Kevin Sullivan had an impressive day on the boards, securing a win in the 1-meter (297.00) and earning second in the 3-meter with an NCAA Zones qualifying score of 324.00. 

Next Up

The men's swim team will be competing in the 2021 Big Ten Championships in Columbus, Ohio from Tuesday, Mar. 3 - Saturday, Mar. 6.

The men's and women's diving team will compete in their Big Ten Championships from Wednesday, Feb. 24 - Saturday, Feb. 27 in West Lafayette, Indiana.
