ROSEMONT, Ill. – Penn State men's ice hockey senior captain Alex Limoges (Winchester, Va.) was named an All-Big Ten selection for the second time in his career with his second-consecutive honorable mention selection as announced by the league office Tuesday afternoon.
Limoges, a finalist for the 2021 Senior CLASS Award, leads Penn State in each offensive category this season with ten goals and 12 assists for 22 points. With the fewest number of games played in the Big Ten, the senior's point-per-game numbers this season rank tied for seventh in the conference while his 10 goals overall are tied for ninth and his 0.45 goals per game rank sixth.
Limoges registered a pair of multi-point efforts for Penn State in the 2021 Big Ten Tournament earlier this week with a pair of primary assists, including one on the game-winning goal, during a 6-3 victory against Notre Dame on Sunday night before having a hand in all three Nittany Lion goals during an overtime loss to No. 5 and top-seeded Wisconsin on Monday in the semifinal.
Limoges scored Penn State's opening goal of the game against the Badgers while assisting on two others and in the process overtook former teammate Liam Folkes '20 for the all-time Big Ten Tournament scoring record as he now has 17 career points (7G, 10A) in just 10 tournament games. His seven goals are also the second-most in tournament history behind the eight from Folkes.
Not only has Limoges missed just five games in his entire Penn State career, but he also currently ranks third among all active players in the NCAA with 125 career points, a mark good for the most in the Big Ten while his 51 career goals are good for fourth among active players and tops in the Big Ten.
Limoges is currently third on the Penn State all time points list and tied for third on the all-time goals list while his 74 assists rank fourth all-time.
Not only is he a force on the ice, but the supply chain management major has a cumulative 3.67 grade point average including an impressive 3.81 GPA last semester with no pass/fail classes on his schedule.
Junior goaltender Oskar Autio (Espoo, Finland) was named the teams sportsmanship award honoree. The Finn has started 18 of the team's 22 games this season posting a 9-9-0 record with an .894 save percentage and a 3.13 goals-against average in his first season as the Nittany Lion starting net-minder.
