UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Penn State track & field head coach John Gondak has announced the program's schedule for the upcoming outdoor track & field season. The team is slated to begin competition on March 26 at the University of Maryland.
"We are very excited to head into the outdoor season this year," Gondak said. "We have some outstanding competitions on the schedule that will help prepare us for the postseason. The Big Ten is an extremely competitive conference in our sport and anytime we get together as a group for our invitationals like we are this spring, it is going to present a great opportunity for our student-athletes to compete at a high level."
The Nittany Lions are scheduled for several Big Ten Invitational meets throughout the spring, including neutral site meets in Jacksonville, Fla., on April 2-3 and in Prairie View, Texas on April 16-17.
Penn State will host its annual Jim Thorpe Open at Penn State's Outdoor Multi-Sport Facility on Fri. May 7.
Postseason competition is scheduled to begin a week later, when the Big Ten Outdoor Championships will take place at the University of Illinois in Champaign, Ill., beginning on May 14. The first round of the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships are slated for May 27-29 in Jacksonville, Fla., with the finals scheduled for June 9-12 in Eugene, Ore
