Sophia Gladieux Named NFHCA National and B1G Offensive Player of the Week; Adds B1G Freshman of the Week

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa.  – Penn State Nittany Lion field hockey player Sophia Gladieux (Boyertown, Pa.) has been named both the NFHCA National and Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week as well as Big Ten Freshman of the Week for the week ending March 21, 2021.  Gladieux's Big Ten honors are the second and third of the season for Penn State.  It is Penn State's first national laurel of the season.
 
Gladieux roared into East Lansing for her first two Big Ten road games and left Michigan State with five goals.  With Penn State trailing the Spartans 2-0 in the second half of Friday's game, Gladieux rallied Penn State with four second half goals as the Lions won 5-2. 
 
Two days later, Gladieux notched her fifth goal of the weekend in Penn State's 3-0 shutout victory over MSU.  Gladieux now leads Penn State with 13 points off a team-best six goals and one assist.
 
Penn State is now 4-3 overall, 3-1 the conference standings.  The team is off this weekend and heads to Rutgers in two weeks for road games on Friday and Sunday, April 2-4.
