UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Penn State's Jenna Hampton was named the Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week on Monday after helping Penn State post a pair of 3-0 wins at Michigan State this past weekend.
Hampton, the team's starting libero, totaled 26 digs (4.33/set) in the two sweeps, helping Penn State hold Michigan State to .078 hitting as a team. She was a perfect 15-15 on serve receptions and contributed to the offensive effort with 11 assists (1.83/set).
Penn State is ranked 11th in the nation after winning each of its past five matches. The Lions have won 14 consecutive sets.
Up next for Penn State are a pair of home matches against No. 1 Wisconsin on Friday at 9 p.m. and Saturday at 7 p.m. Both matches will air live on Big Ten Network.
