KENNESAW, Ga. – Penn State rebounded in the second round of the Pinetree Women's Collegiate and currently sit seventh in the 10-team field entering tomorrow's final round. Tuesday's round will begin with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m.
The Nittany Lions shaved nine strokes off their first-round total in the second round carding an 11-over, 299, the sixth best score of the round.
"We need to have a better strategy on some of the holes," mentioned head coach Denise St. Pierre. "We struggled as a team and I hope we can put it together as a team tomorrow."
Florida State is currently in the lead at even par with Kennesaw State five strokes back in second. East Tennessee State (15-over), Mercer University (23-over) and Chattanooga (27-over) round out the top-five.
The Nittany Lions were led by junior Sarah Willis (Eaton, Ohio) who is currently tied for 20th after climbing 17 spots during the second round with a 1-under, 71. Willis went out in 1-under with a bogey-free opening nine before mixing in three bogeys with three birdies for an even-par back-nine.
Freshman Victoria Tip-Aucha (Vienna, Va.) is tied for 28th following an even-par second round as she climbed 16 spots from her opening round. Senior Megan McLean (Lebanon, N.J.) and sophomore Mathilde Delavallade (Royan, France) are each tied for 34th at 10-over following the opening two rounds of the tournament. The duo shot identical rounds of 76 (4-over) and 78 (6-over).
Sophomore Isha Dhruva (Katy, Texas) carded rounds of 75 and 79 on the day while junior Taylor Waller (Canonsburg, Pa.) finished the day with a 5-over, 77, in the second-round while playing as an individual.
