ROSEMONT, Ill. – Freshman Victoria Tip-Aucha (Vienna, Va.) paced the Penn State women's golf team to a seventh-place finish at the Pinetree Women's Collegiate earlier this week and was dubbed the Big Ten Co-Women's Golfer of the Week as announced by the conference office on Wednesday afternoon.
Tip-Aucha is the first Nittany Lion to earn a weekly award since Cara Basso '19 did so on October 10, 2018.
The rookie bounced back from an opening round 80, 8-over, with back-to-back even-par rounds to close out the tournament. Tip-Aucha climbed 29 spots total over the final two rounds including 13 spots over the final 18 holes finishing tied for 15th with a score of 224, 8-over, marking her highest collegiate finish.
"Overall, I was striking the ball pretty well and rolling my putts a lot better than my first round. I changed strategies for the second and third rounds which also helped, especially with the greens rolling as fast as they did," commented Tip-Aucha.
Through four tournaments this season, Tip-Aucha ranks fourth on the team with a 76.25 stroke average over 12 rounds.
