UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Penn State men's basketball head coach Micah Shrewsberry has announced the addition of Greg Lee to the Nittany Lion program. Lee, a 6-9 forward, averaged 13.0 points and 7.2 rebounds per game at Western Michigan to earn All-Mid-American Conference (MAC) honorable mention recognition in 2020-21. Lee joins Penn State with one year of eligibility remaining.
"Greg is going to be a great addition to our program," said Shrewsberry. "He will provide a veteran presence and add more experience to our front line. His versatility and ability to score the ball in a variety of ways will be really helpful in our system. More importantly, he is a gym rat who will constantly push himself and his teammates to become better."
Lee's 13.0 points per game ranked second on the Western Michigan team, while his 7.2 rebounds per contest led the squad. He ranked seventh in the MAC in rebounds per game and fifth in the conference in defensive rebounds per game (5.8). Lee started all 21 games while shooting 50.4 percent from the field and adding 2.4 assists per game.
The Rockford, Ill. native registered 14 double-digit scoring games, including a pair of 20-point performances, in addition to a team-best four double-doubles in 2020-21 to earn All-MAC honorable mention laurels.
Lee spent 2016-2019 at Cal State Bakersfield prior to transferring to Western Michigan. After redshirting his freshman year, he appeared in 92 games with 42 starts as a Roadrunner. He averaged 4.9 points and 3.0 rebounds per contest over three seasons with the Roadrunners, including 6.7 points and 3.9 rebounds per game in his final season at CSU Bakersfield in 2019-20.
Lee attended Westside High School in Houston, Texas, where he was a two-time All-District selection for the Wolves. He was named Team MVP and Offensive Player of the Year in 2016.
