UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – The Penn State women's golf team had three members from its 2021-22 roster receive Big Ten Women's Golf Preseason Honors earlier Tuesday morning. Senior Sarah Willis (Eaton, Ohio) was named a preseason honoree for the third time in her career while junior Mathilde Dellavallade (Royan, France) received her second consecutive preseason mention and classmate Isha Dhruva (Katy, Texas) earned her first preseason accolade.
The conference honored a total of 42 players from the 14 member schools when they released the list early Thursday afternoon.
Willis led the Nittany Lions during a shortened 2020-21 season finishing with a 74.22 stroke average. Willis ended the spring on a high-note earning the best individual finish for Penn State at the Big Ten Championships in three years with a sixth-place finish back in April. As a team the Nittany Lions also finished sixth marking their best finish at the championship since 2014 and their fourth-best mark all-time in the 39-year history of the conference championship.
Delavallade was second on the team with a 75.11 stroke average competing in all six events while Dhruva finished fourth on the squad with a 76.13 stroke average after teeing it up in all, but one event during the 2021 spring season.
Penn State opens its 2021 fall schedule as it hosts the 45th annual Nittany Lion Invitational this weekend. In celebration of 100 years of Penn State Golf the tournament will be held on the White Course.
