UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Penn State senior Gabby Blossom was named the Big Ten Women's Volleyball Setter of the Week on Monday after leading Penn State to 3-0 wins in conference play over Rutgers and No. 3 Ohio State.
Blossom directed the Penn State offense to a .392 hitting percentage over the two wins while averaging 11.00 assists/set and 3.17 digs/set. She posted a double-double in a huge win over the nationally-ranked Buckeyes, totaling 36 assists and 13 digs while helping the team hit .380.
Penn State ranks second in the Big Ten with a .302 hitting percentage after hitting .380 or better in three of the past four matches
Penn State is on the road for its next two matches, both against teams led by former members of the Penn State staff. The Lions play at Maryland, led by head coach Adam Hughes, on Wednesday at 8 p.m., and travel to play Indiana, led by head coach Steve Aird, on Saturday at 7 p.m.
