WINTHROP, Mass. – Penn State women's hockey senior forward Natalie Heising was chosen the CHA Forward of the Week for her individual performance last week as announced by the league Monday afternoon.
Heising tallied three points with two goals and assist as Penn State finished 1-0-1 at Brown Saturday and Sunday, but the assist was particularly special as it placed her atop the Penn State women's hockey career scoring list with her 105th career point, surpassing Laura Bowman's lofty 104-point mark.
The Wayzata, Minn. native also scored two go-ahead goals in the series and leads Nittany Lions with six goals scored through eight games this season. With 60 goals and 45 assists in her career, Heising ranks 29th on the CHA's all-time scoring list and 18th on the all-time conference goal-scoring chart. She needs one goal to tie Bowman for the program record in goals scored.
Her 0.80 points per game average still tops all Penn State women's hockey student-athletes with at least 50 career games played.
The weekly conference award is the second of the season for Heising (Sept. 26) and the eight weekly conference award overall in her decorated career.
Heising and the Nittany Lions take the ice again Friday and Saturday, Oct. 29-30 at Mercyhurst to begin conference play.
