Women's Golf Moves Up Leaderboard at Landfall Tradition

WILMINGTON, N.C.  – The Penn State women's golf team is up to 16th in a stacked field at the Landfall Tradition following the second round of play at the Country Club of Landfall's Dye Course on Saturday.

The Nittany Lions shaved 15 shots of their first-round total and are currently 25-over for the weekend following a 5-over second round on Saturday.

"The wind was still a factor today, but not as extreme as yesterday," mentioned head coach Denise St. Pierre. "The team relaxed into the conditions and the course and came together for a good competitive round. We are still in reach of some really great teams."

Michigan had the low round of the day at 11-under and currently pace the field at 10-under for the weekend. South Carolina turned in a 10-under second round and sit in second at 7-under for the championship. Michigan State (even), UCF (2-over) and Virginia Tech (4-over) round out the top-five.

Junior Mathilde Delavallade (Royan, France) paced the way for Penn State again climbing 15 spots with an even-par round moving into a tie for 30th position after going out in 1-under and coming in at 1-over.

Senior classmates Sarah Willis (Eaton, Ohio) and Taylor Waller (Canonsburg, Pa.) also went out in 1-under to begin their rounds and carded identical 1-over, 73, in the second round. Willis led Penn State with five birdies in the round and is currently tied for 47th entering Sunday's final round.

Freshman Drew Nienhaus (St. Louis, Mo.) fired a 3-over, 75, while junior Isha Dhruva (Katy, Texas) rounded out the team scores with a 5-over, 77.

The tournament concludes tomorrow morning with an 8:45 a.m. shotgun start.
