Women's Swimming & Diving Complete Day One of Competition at Liberty

University Park, Pa. - Penn State Women's Swimming & Diving concluded their first day of competition against Liberty and East Carolina. The Nittany Lions won all nine individual swimming events and both relays at Liberty Natatorium. Junior Abigail Amdor and senior Marie Schobel led the team winning two events each. For Schobel, the streak of wins continues, she has yet lose an individual backstroke event this season. 
 
Swimming and diving will continue tomorrow morning at 11 a.m. and live results can be accessed on the Meet Mobile app. 
 
Top Swims
Amdor won the 200 free (1:50.61) by nearly two seconds. In the 100 free, she finished in 50.91, out-touching sophomore Cat Stanford (51.00) by less than a tenth of a second.
 
Stanford won the 25 free in 10.87, leading Penn State in sweeping the top four places. Sophomore Mary Brinker placed second (10.93), senior Olivia Jack touched third (11.06) and junior Ellie Tiskus followed her closely to fourth (11.19). 
 
Jack won the 100 breast in 1:03.79 in a close battle with team-mate Maddie Cooke, who finished second in 1:03.81. 
 
Schobel won both backstroke events. In the 50 she touched in 25.53. In the 100, she led Penn State to a one-two finish with a time of 53.93. Freshman Molly Carson followed her to second in 55.43. 
 
Sophomores Morgan Rinn and Abby Henderson impressed by winning the 200 fly (2:02.78) and 200 IM (2:06.42) respectively.  
 
Top Dives 
Penn State was led by Tatum Evans on the boards, who scored 229.70 points for the 1-Meter dive. 
 
Nittany Lions Relays
The Nittany Lions began their weekend at Liberty with a win in the 100 medley relay. The team of Schobel, Maddie Cooke, Emma Harvey and Stanford touched first in 46.00. 
 
Penn State Women ended their first night in Liberty with a one-two finish in the 100 free relay. Stanford, Cooke, Brinker and Jack led Penn State to first in 42.00 and Amdor, Maura Fluehr, Tiskus and Marly Lough (43.37) followed them to second.
