Paquette Named B1G Hockey Second Star of the Week

Full Big Ten Release

ROSEMONT, Ill. – Sophomore Tyler Paquette (Collegeville, Pa.) was named the Big Ten Second Star of the Week as announced by the league office earlier Wednesday morning following his performances during a series sweep at St. Thomas last week.

Paquette tied for the Big Ten lead with three goals for the week. The sophomore tallied twice in a 5-1 victory on Tuesday night marking his second multi-goal effort this season before potting the eventual game-winning score in a 4-1 win on Wednesday night.

This marks the first career weekly award for the sophomore as he joins teammates Jimmy Dowd Jr., Kevin Wall, Clayton Phillips and Connor MacEachern who were each honored earlier this season.

Last week marked the first time in his career Paquette has registered points in back-to-back games while his five goals this season are good for third on the team and tied for 13th in the Big Ten.

Penn State returns to Big Ten play this weekend with a home series against Michigan State on Friday at 7 p.m. and Saturday at 5 p.m. Saturday's game will serve as the annual Teddy Bear Toss and limited tickets for each contest are still available and can be purchased HERE.
