KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Four Penn State men's soccer student-athletes landed spots on the 2021 All-North Region Teams as announced by United Soccer Coaches Tuesday. Sophomore Peter Mangione highlighted the honors with a first-team selection. Redshirt senior Brandon Hackenberg and senior Seth Kuhn earned second-team accolades while junior Andrew Privett was on the third team.

Mangione earns the first all-region honors of his career with a first team nod. The 2021 Big Ten Offensive Player of the Year finished the season with a career-high seven goals, including four game winners, and four assists for 18 points, tied for second most on the team. He recorded a hat trick against Villanova (9/21) for the program's first in 11 seasons and was named Big Ten Co-Offensive Player of the Week for his efforts. The Hunt Valley, Md. native also earned First Team All-Big Ten and Big Ten All-Tournament Team honors this season.

Hackenberg collects his third-straight all-region honor with a place on the second team this year. The defender from Palmyra, Va. started every single game on the backline and played all but four minutes for the Nittany Lions, contributing to eight total shutouts, including a four-game streak en route to both the Big Ten regular season and tournament crowns. He earned first-team honors in 2020-21 and was on the third team in 2019.

Kuhn gathers his second consecutive second-team all-region nod. The central midfielder from Wyomissing, Pa. had a career year, finishing with 18 total points on five goals and eight assists, career bests in each category. Kuhn had an offensive resurgence at the end of the season, scoring all five of his goals and adding two assists. During the Nittany Lions' run to the Big Ten regular season and tournament titles, Kuhn contributed on seven of the 12 goals scored in that five-game winning streak. For that he was named the Big Ten Offensive Player of the Tournament in addition to earning a spot on the All-Tournament Team. He also earned Second Team All-Big Ten honors at the conclusion of the regular season.

Finally, Privett earns the first all-region honors of his career on the third team. Privett had a breakout season in 2021, totaling a team-high 22 points on a team-high nine goals and four assists for career highs in each category. His total goals and points led the Big Ten while also standing top-60 nationally at 36th and 57th, respectively. His most notable goal this season came in overtime against then-No. 7 Maryland as the Nittany Lions started an 11-0 scoring run in the next five games en route to two Big Ten rings. The Fallston, Md. native was named to the All-Big Ten second team at the end of the regular season.

The Nittany Lions had four on the all-region teams for the second-straight season under head coach Jeff Cook. Penn State's four honorees are tied for most in the region with Indiana.

Penn State finished the 2021 season with a 13-7-1 overall record and the first Big ten "double" in program history before ending the season in tough circumstances against Hofstra in the second round of the NCAA Tournament.
