Penn State Fencing Sends 18 Athletes to Olympic Trials

University Park, Pa. - The Nittany Lion fencing team is sending 18 athletes this weekend to Columbus, Ohio to compete in the Olympic Trials / D1 / Junior-Cadet from Dec. 9-12. This event will conclude action for the semester.
 
Fencing for the men this weekend will be:
 
Epee - Mitchel Bekker (Brooklyn, N.Y.), Ryan Griffiths (Fair Lawn, N.J.), Peter Kambeseles (Brooklyn, N.Y.), Stafford Moosekian (Los Angeles, Calif.),  Jonathan Piskovatskov (Houston, Texas), Daniel Shifron (Pittsburgh, Pa.), Jacob Sjostedt (Furlong, Pa.), Devin Tafoya (Highlands Ranch, Colo.), and Evan Xu (Sugarland, Texas), 
 
Foil - Shane Iverson (Basking Ridge, N.J.) and Donavyn Martinez (Fresno, Calif.)
 
Saber - Kamar Skeete (Duluth, Ga.)
 
Fencing for the women this weekend will be:
 
Epee - Kateryna Chorniy (Kyiv, Ukraine), Sophie Goldberg (Newtown, Pa.), Nirali Igoe (Washington, D.C.), and Jaclyn Khrol (Brooklyn, N.Y.)
 
Foil - Samantha Catantan (Quezon City, Philippines) and Claire Haas (Port Matilda, Pa.)
 
The Penn State fencing teams will be back in action Jan. 7-10 in San Jose, Calif. at the NAC Division 1/Junior meet.
