UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – No. 8 Penn State women's volleyball looks to get back on track as it hosts Indiana for a pair of matches this weekend. Friday's match is scheduled for 7 p.m., while Saturday's match is at 6 p.m. Both will stream on Big Ten Network+.

Penn State Match Notes

OPENING NOTES

• Penn State finishes off a stretch of five matches in eight days when it hosts Indiana at Rec Hall on Friday and Saturday.
• Both matches will stream on Big Ten Network+.
• Penn State is 2-0 at Rec Hall this season with a pair of wins over Illinois to open the season.
 
SCOUTING THE HOOSIERS
• Indiana is 2-6 on the season. The Hoosiers split two-match series' with Iowa and Rutgers and were swept in two-match series' with Nebraska and Wisconsin.
• The Hoosiers rank first in the Big Ten in total blocks with 73. Leyla Blackwell ranks sixth in the conference with 1.28 blocks/set and third in total blocks with 37.
• Both of Indiana's wins this season came on the road.
 
SERIES HISTORY
• Penn State leads 55-1 in the all-time series with Indiana.
• The teams first played in 1982.
• The Lions have won 15 straight matches in the series. The Hoosiers lone win in the series came in Bloomington in 2010.
• Penn State is 28-0 against Indiana at Rec Hall, including a 3-0 win last season.
 
BUSY STRETCH FOR PENN STATE
• Penn State is in the middle of a busy stretch of competition that includes five matches in eight days, including three matches against undefeated opponents.
• The stretch began with two matches at No. 5 Minnesota, which entered with a 6-0 record, on Feb. 13-14. It continued Feb. 17 at Ohio State, which was unbeaten at 6-0, and wraps up with two home matches against Indiana on Feb. 19-20.
 
BIG TEN LEADS WAY IN NATIONAL RANKINGS
• Five Big Ten teams appeared in the top 15 of the most recent AVCA national rankings — No. 1 Wisconsin, No. 4 Nebraska, No. 5 Minnesota, No. 8 Penn State and No. 11 Purdue.
 
AIRD MAKES SIXTH RETURN TO REC HALL
•  Third-year Indiana coach Steve Aird, a former assistant coach for the Penn State women's volleyball team, will make his third return to Rec Hall as head coach of the Hoosiers and sixth overall. The other three came during his time as head coach at Maryland.
•  Aird was an assistant coach for the Lions for three season (2007, 2012-13). Two of those season ended with national titles.
