UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — The Penn State women's lacrosse program ranked No. 25 in the ILWomen/IWLCA preseason poll released Monday.
Last season with a Big Ten only slate, the Nittany Lions went 4-9 overall with three wins against ranked opponents (No. 7 Maryland, No. 13 Michigan, No. 9 Maryland.)
The Blue & White finished second in the Big Ten in scoring offense, averaging 12.77 goals per game. Four Nittany Lions were selected All-Big Ten, including returner Kristin O'Neill who was also lauded as Big Ten Freshman of the Year.
The team returns 22 players while adding one graduate transfer and seven freshmen.
Penn State will open the 2022 season at Drexel on Feb. 16 in Philadelphia, Pa. They will play their first four games on the road before hosting James Madison on March 9 at Panzer Stadium.
They will return to a normal Big Ten slate this season, beginning conference action on March 26 at Ohio State.
Penn State will close out regular season competition on April 28 by hosting Johns Hopkins before turning their attention to the Big 10 Tournament May 6-8.
