Gators Invitational Final Results
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The Penn State men's golf team moved up three spots on the final day of the Florida Gators Invitational to finish tied for seventh of 14 teams Sunday at Florida's Mark Bostick Golf Course.
The Nittany Lions entered the day in 10th place as a team before shooting a 5-over, 285, in the third and final round Sunday. The 285 was the seventh-best team mark in the third round as the Nittany Lions catapulted into a tie for seventh and finished the 54-hole tournament at 15-over, 855.
Graduate student Lou Olsakovsky and junior Patrick Sheehan continued to pace Penn State, both finishing tied for 13th amongst the individual field. Sheehan shot an even 70 in Sunday's round to finish the tournament at 1-under, 209. Olsakovsky carded a 1-over, 71, on the final 18 to also finish the tournament at 1-under, 209. Sheehan collected his fifth top-15 finish of the 2021-22 season, while Olsakovsky secured his fourth.
Sophomore James Allen had Penn State's best round Sunday, firing a 1-under, 69, to finish the Gators Invite tied for 49th at 8-over, 218.
Junior Jimmy Meyers shot a 5-over, 75, Sunday and finished at 12-over, 222, to tie for 65th. Graduate student James McHugh was 10-over, 80, in Sunday's final 18 to finish tied for 76th at 19-over, 229.
Penn State will have a short layoff before returning to action March 7-8 at the Colleton River Collegiate in Bluffton, S.C.
