UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - After setting the Penn State pole vault record last weekend at the Penn State Tune Up, junior Luke Knipe has been named Big Ten Indoor Field Athlete of the Week.
The Boaslburg, Pa. native, set the new school mark with a vault of 5.31m (17-5), breaking his own program record set at last year's Big Ten Indoor Championships. The mark ranks fourth in the conference this season.
Knipe's honor is the fourth by a Penn State athlete this year, as freshman Allison Johnson has claimed Big Ten Women's Track Athlete of the Week three times.
