Men's Gymnasts Set to Compete at World Cup and Winter Cup Events

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Four Penn State men's gymnasts are set to compete at prestigious events over the next four days. Sophomore Ethan Dick will represent New Zealand at the Cottbus World Cup in Germany on Thursday and Saturday, while Michael Artlip, Matt Cormier, and Michael Jaroh will compete at the Winter Cup in Frisco, Texas, on Friday and Sunday.
 
Dick will compete on floor and pommel horse in Cottbus. The event is the first FIG Apparatus World Cup of 2022. Other locations in the series include Doha, Qatar (March 2-5), Cairo, Egypt (March 13-20), and Baku Azerbaijan (March 31-April 4). Also competing is incoming Penn State gymnast Kacper Garnczarek, who will represent Poland on floor, pommel horse, and high bar.
 
Artlip, Cormier and Jaroh will all compete in the all-around at the Winter Cup, which will take place at the Ford Center at The Star. Friday's competition will stream on the Olympic Channel at 7:30 p.m. ET. Sunday's event finals begin at 6:30 p.m. ET.
 
The 2022 Winter Cup is a qualifying event to the 2022 U.S. Gymnastics Championships. The Winter Cup will also culminate in the selection of the Men's Junior and Senior National Teams to be named following the competition.
 
The four gymnasts competing in the upcoming days have helped Penn State earn a No. 7 national ranking. Cormier ranks seventh in the nation in the all-around. In individual events, Jaroh ranks second in the nation on rings and 12th on parallel bars. Dick ranks eighth on parallel bars, while Cormier is 10th on high bar and 13th on vault.
