Clement Perrier Crowned Regional Saber Champion

University Park, Pa. - The Nittany Lions saw great success today at the NCAA Mid-Atlantic / South Regionals held at Princeton University in Princeton N.J. Ahead of qualifier announcements coming this Wednesday, the men's and women's fencing team remains focused with sights set on NCAA Championships coming soon. 

Clement Perrier (Allauch, France) earned the top spot in men's saber representing Penn State as the regional champion. Kamar Skeete (Duluth, Ga.) also fared well, earning silver. Ethan Mullenix (San Francisco, Calif.) followed in ninth place. Finally, Nicholaus Zielinski (Prospect Heights, Ill.) ended the day in 21st place.

In men's foil, Sebastiano Bicego (Vicenza, Italy) took the second place spot earning silver followed closely behind by Arwen Borowiak (Tauberbischofsheim, Germany) who earned bronze. Shane Iverson (Basking Ridge, N.J.) ended in fourth place, and Aidan Johnson (Oceanport, N.J.) finished in seventh.

Ryan Griffiths (Fair Lawn, N.J.) took home bronze in men's epee. Jonathan Piskovatskov (Houston, Texas) followed closely behind tying for 13th place. Elias Cole (Chappaqua, N.Y.) ended the day in 15th place, and Devin Tafoya (Highlands Ranch, Colo.) rounded out the group in 22nd place.

In women's saber, Ola Strzalkowski (Littleton, Colo.) ended the day in sixth place followed by Pauline Conscience (Paris, France) in eighth and Steph Jen (Taichung, Taiwan) in 10th.

Samantha Catantan (Quezon City, Philippines) took home 13th place in women's foil. Arianna Proietti (Como, Italy) ended in 18th, and Ariel Ratsep (San Francisco, Calif.) finished in 22nd. Sofia McGoff-Medero (Gurabo, Puerto Rico) finished the day in 25th.

In women's epee, Kateryna Chorniy (Kyiv, Ukraine) ended in fourth place followed by Axelle Wasiak (Vlaams-Brabant, Belgium) in 10th. Jaclyn Khrol (Brooklyn, N.Y.) tied for 13th, and Sabine Desamours (Warrenton, Va.) ended in 27th.

NCAA Championships will be held March 24-27 in South Bend, Ind.
